Who We Are

A Two-Pronged Approach to Crisis

Sandhit Foundation is a grassroots organization of young professionals. We mobilize volunteers to address two highly vulnerable groups often shunned by society:

  • Rehabilitation: Identification and treatment of street addicts.
  • Livelihood: Tackling educated unemployment and skill generation.

The Reality in Numbers

Cannabis Users ~3.1 Crore
Opioid Users ~60 Lakh

Founder's Message

At Sandhit Foundation, our belief is simple yet profound: addiction is a health condition, not a moral failure. Every individual struggling with substance use deserves understanding, timely care, and an opportunity to rebuild their life with dignity.

My journey towards founding Sandhit Foundation is rooted in both professional experience and personal reality. Having spent over three decades in the healthcare sector, I witnessed the importance of structured systems. However, it was my experience as a mother of a son who battled substance addiction that truly transformed my perspective. Through years of treatment, setbacks, perseverance, and hope, I saw recovery become a reality.

Sandhit Foundation was established to bridge the gap for the economically underprivileged. Our mission is to destigmatise substance use disorders, promote awareness, and provide free rehabilitation and recovery support to those who cannot afford it.

I invite you to join us in this mission—whether as a partner, donor, volunteer, or advocate. Together, we can create a society where compassion replaces judgement.

Mission & Vision: 365 in 365

In our first year, we seek to provide free treatment to 365 street addicts in West Bengal.

Target Group

Heroin addicts aged 20-25. Mostly males, long-term users (5+ years), unemployed, and alienated from families.

The Barrier

Addiction is often dismissed as a "choice." We treat it as a chronic disorder requiring medical intervention, not judgment.

Geography

Operations focused on Urban & Rural youth across West Bengal (Kolkata), Sikkim, and Maharashtra.

What We Do

Our Programs

Driven by a commitment to restoring dignity, health, and opportunity.

Awareness & Education

Our primary objective is to spread awareness that addiction is a disease (WHO), not a moral failure. We focus on community campaigns, counseling, and family education to reduce stigma and promote hope.

Free Rehabilitation & Detox

We bridge the cost gap by providing completely free treatment for underprivileged users. This includes access to detox facilities, counseling, and nationwide support outreach.

Livelihood & Reintegration

True healing includes restoring independence. We support individuals through skill development, vocational training, and employment facilitation to achieve sustainable self-reliance.

Transgender Empowerment

We actively work with the transgender community to provide addiction recovery support, skill training, and social inclusion programs, creating a safe environment for all.
